General Safety Instructions

1. Be Aware of the Lab Rules Always do as your instructor or lab supervisor directs.
   Put on the appropriate PPE, such as a lab coat, gloves, safety goggles, and closed-toe shoes. No Food or Drink: Avoid eating, drinking, or chewing gum while in the laboratory.

Chemical Safety

1. Label Everything – Ensure all containers are clearly labelled.
2. Read MSDS – Learn the Material Safety Data Sheet for each chemical.
3. Avoid Direct Contact – Do not touch, inhale, or taste any chemical.
4. Use Fume Hood – Handle volatile or toxic chemicals inside a fume hood.

 

Glassware and Equipment Safety

1. Check for Cracks – Do not use broken or cracked glassware.
2. Handle with Care – Use tongs or gloves when dealing with hot equipment.
3. Turn Off Equipment – Always turn off burners and hot plates after use.

 

Fire Safety
